10 Things to Thrift this Fall (That Will Cozy Up Your Home)
As the season begins to change, it's the perfect time to refresh up your space for Fall. But you don’t have to spend a fortune—thrifting is one of the best (and most sustainable!) ways to bring in the season. Whether you're decorating for a gathering or just love that autumnal vibe, here are 10 things to thrift for fall that are both charming and budget-friendly.

1. Brown Books
Vintage brown or neutral-toned books add a warm, layered feel to shelves and coffee tables. Stack them for height or use them to anchor small décor pieces.
2. Ceramic, Wicker, or Stone Pumpkins
Ditch the plastic—look for pumpkins made from ceramic, wicker, or even carved stone. They bring a natural, artisan touch to your fall displays.

3. Florals
Think beyond sunflowers! Look for dried florals, muted faux arrangements, or even large branches. I have a lot of dried eucalyptus because it is so easy to dry, but I also double some beautiful new stems this year that I will use every year and won't be as fragile to store.

4. Brown Vases, Crocks, or Amber Glass
These earthy tones bring instant warmth. Amber glass especially catches candlelight beautifully, adding a soft glow to your space. These are easy to find at the thrift store!
I thrifted this glass vase and painted it with a bit of baking soda mixed in to give a pottery look.
5. Handmade Pottery
Each piece tells a story—and nothing says cozy like a hand-thrown mug or rustic serving bowl. Perfect for serving fall meals, holding Fall florals, or simply displaying on open shelves.
6. Fall-Colored Pillow Covers
Swap out your current covers for ones in rust, mustard, olive, or deep burgundy. Thrift stores often have affordable textiles you can repurpose or sew into custom covers. And I am always looking fro teh down inserts at the thrift store (I throw these right into the wash and dryer too!)
I found this pillow on Etsy, it is made out of a vintage rug. I love the muted color that it brings to the season
7. Fall Throw Blankets
Nothing says fall like a chunky knit or plaid blanket. Keep an eye out for wool or cotton throws in warm tones to drape over chairs, sofas, or the end of your bed.
8. Baskets
Wicker baskets are a fall staple. Use them to hold blankets, display mini pumpkins, or even style a potted tree. The texture alone adds so much seasonal charm.
9. Candles and Candle Holders
Whether you’re lighting up a dark evening or just love the ambiance, candles are a must. Hunt for vintage brass or ceramic holders for extra character. And look for beeswax candles which offer a beautiful Fall color.
I like adding in some black iron items to my decor as most of my furniture is wood or upholstered. I thrifted these a few years ago and they work for every season.
10. Pears
Yes, pears! They’re trending this year in Fall décor—whether real, faux, painted, or sculptural. Their soft shape and muted tones blend beautifully with autumn palettes. Set on a coffee table, in a bowl on open shelving, or place in hanging basket in the kitchen to keep some of that beautiful life in the space even as the Summer fades.
Added some thrifted pears to a handmade ceramic bowl on a thrifted onyx tray on my coffee table for a fresh fall look
Thrifting for fall isn’t just about saving money—it’s about finding pieces that feel collected, lived-in, and perfectly imperfect. Happy hunting, and enjoy making your home a little cozier this season!
